IFRS Seminar jointly organised with KPMG-BME Academy (17 - 19 September 2008, Budapest)
The course was attended by 22 delegates from 8 countries. The training course aimed at offering a general overview of most IFRS standards. Besides the theoretical background the course offered several case-studies, numerical examples and group assignments designed specifically for financial institutions. This course was designed to provide an executive summary of IFRS and also an overview of the significant and most challenging features of the standards.
It also ensured participants have a chance to utilize the standards as they would in everyday operations and to receive in-depth training in the practical aspect of the IFRS accounting system.
Bank Analysis Training Course (27 - 29 August 2008, Vienna, Austria)
This was the first time that we organised our Intensive Training Course in Russian language in Vienna. The training course was attended by 14 delegates from 5 countries. The goal of the training was to make participants acquainted with the most up-to-date methods in bank analysis with a particular focus on analysing banks in Central and Eastern Europe. The training was held by BACEE’s staff with contribution by Mr. Mátyás Veres, "CLARTÉ CONSULTING”.
The 2008 BACEE Annual General Meeting and CEE Banking Forum (July 2008, Belgrade)
The CEE Banking Forum was attended by over 50 delegates from 12 countries. The event was hosted by Agrobanka, Belgrade and supported by the Association of Serbian Banks. The Forum was dedicated to the recent developments in the economy and the banking sector in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe. The speakers’ panel included representatives of the National Bank of Serbia, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, the Serbia Investment and Export Promotion Agency. Presentations on other CEE/SEE countries and their banking system were made by central banks, banking supervisors, commercial banks from the region, investors, rating agencies and independent analysts.
Intensive Training Course on Bank Analysis with the participation of Bernard Allorent, former Global Head of Risk, BNP Paribas (11 - 13 June 2008, Budapest)
Conference on Operational Risk in Banks '2008 jointly organised with ISACA, the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (8 - 9 May 2008, Budapest)
The Conference was attended by over 71 delegates from 15 countries. The topics discussed included: Basel II in Operational Risk Management IT controlling methodology for Basel II fulfilment; Managing IT Governance, Risk and Compliance; Loss data and KRI's; Application fraud and emerging fraud trends; Fraud Data Sharing Developments in the UK; IT supervisory requirements and experiences; Operational Risk Management in various banks and financial institutions with case studies. The Panel discussions were focused on 1. How commercial banks are coping with Basel II managing Operational Risk, and 2. IT solutions for Operational Risk Management (Case Studies and Demonstrations).

During the conference two special sessions were held. The first was dedicated to SEPA, where our distinguished speaker was Ing. Miloslav Hoschek, Independent Consultant, Bratislava. The second discussed the impact of the subprime crisis with panel members, Ms. Maya Bhandari, Lombard Street Research, London, Mr. Neil Shearing, Capital Economics, London, Mr. János Szuda, FHB Mortgage Bank, Budapest and Mr. Gergely Tardos, Director, Strategy and Economic Research Directorate, OTP Bank, Budapest.
