Training Course on Benchmarking and Peer Group Analysis for Banks: ways to define your position in a competitive environment 

The training course focuses on methodological questions aimed at comparing different players of the banking industry. The objective is that the participants learn those methodological principles and broaden the means at their disposal in order to adequately determine the position of their organisation, or of a given financial institution, on the market, and to define a sustainable and balanced development direction. The training course is designed to and offered for banks’ top management, analysts, strategic planners and business development specialists.

 

 

Trainers’ Biographies


Mr. Farkas Balázs Hadady
Senior Economist, Managing Director of BACEE

Mr. Hadady has been the Managing Director and Senior Economist of the Banking Association for Central & Eastern Europe (BACEE), Budapest, Hungary since July 2007. Mr. Hadady started his working career at BACEE as Analyst in 2005, and worked in this position till his promotion to the above executive role. His main duties as analyst were as follows: analysis of banks and banking systems with special emphasis on credit risk; preparing case studies and delivering presentations on bank risk analysis at conferences, seminars and trainings organised by BACEE on its own (eg. BACEE’s Bank and Country Risk Conference) or together with partner organisations, such as London Risk, KPMG, Moody’s, Fitch, Florida International Bankers Association, Information Systems Audit and Control Association and The Institute of Operational Risk. Mr. Hadady has been professor of Finance and Macro -and Micro Economics at various universities: Alliant International University, Budapest Business School, Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration from 2002 till 2005. During the latter period he was also working for Waterworks of Budapest Co.Ltd. as project manager in 2003. Prior to his academic work he held various project related positions, such as Strategic European Supply Planner/Financial Analyst at Unilever Bestfoods Europe and e-Business specialist at Unilever Hungary Ltd. from 2001 onwards. Mr. Hadady holds Master of Economics and Sociology, Budapest University of Economic Science and Public Administration completing the Joint Master Programme in Economics and Sociology at the following universities: Harvard University, Boston, USA; Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Mexico City, Mexico; and Budapest University of Economic Science and Public Administration, Budapest, Hungary. Mr. Hadady speaks English, Spanish, German, Dutch and Hungarian.

 

Mr. Istvan Lengyel
Chief Analyst, Secretary General of BACEE

Mr. Lengyel graduated from the Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO), International Finances Faculty in 1983. He took part in post-graduate training at Eurobanque, Paris; Dresdner Bank, Frankfurt and at the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania. Between 1983 and 1988 he worked in different positions in the International Division of the National Bank of Hungary. In 1988-89 he was Head of Correspondent Banking at Budapest Bank, Budapest, in 1989-93 Head of the International Division, at Inter-Europa Bank, Budapest (member of the SanPaolo–IMI Group). In 1993-96 Worked as Secretary General of the Clearing Bank Association, based in Brussels. The main task in this position was to supervise an EU-financed project on the creation of a multicountry ecu (later euro) clearing system, the launch of the system and act as clearing manager.
Since 1996 Istvan has been the Secretary General of the Banking Association for Central and Eastern Europe. Between 1996 and 1998 he was based in Brussels and in 1998 moved back to Budapest. He also supervises BACEE’s analytical work and acts as the association’s Chief Analyst. He is author to a number of articles on banking business and regular participant and speaker at international conferences. He speaks Russian, English, French and Hungarian.
